Burleigh Court Hotel Project
JackEvie is delighted to share details of a prestigious flooring commission at Burleigh Court Hotel, located within the renowned Loughborough University campus. As part of a multi-million-pound refurbishment, JackEvie was tasked with providing bespoke wood flooring that complemented the sophisticated vision for the 4-star hotel and conference destination.
In collaboration with leading design agency Harrison, JackEvie played a pivotal role in transforming Burleigh Court into a vibrant and dynamic space that embodies Loughborough University’s academic culture and forward-thinking innovation.
For this project, Nelson Street, from JackEvie’s Walnut Oak Collection, was selected. This stunning natural-grade European oak floor is lightly brushed to enhance the grain, then treated with a reactive stain to achieve its distinctive walnut finish. Sealed with a durable UV oil, the flooring showcases lustrous walnut tones and striking grain patterns. This solution perfectly balances practicality and aesthetic appeal, making it the ideal choice for Burleigh Court.
A highlight of the redesign is Fifty The Street, a vibrant dining space where the flooring plays a central role in defining the ambiance. The main dining area features plank wood flooring that seamlessly transitions into light, stone-effect tiles. This contrast beautifully distinguishes walkways from seating zones, enhancing both the flow and functionality of the space.
The warm wood tones harmonise with lush greenery, bold patterned upholstery, and unique artworks created by Loughborough University fine art students, alongside pieces by established artists with ties to the institution. The thoughtful interplay of materials creates a welcoming, organic environment that invites guests to relax.
The bar area showcases a creative juxtaposition of plank wood flooring and patterned tiles, arranged in a staggered design. This blend of textures and materials adds depth and character, complementing the vibrant and sophisticated atmosphere of the space.
Demonstrating that plank flooring can break free from traditional layouts, the design team devised an innovative solution for the island buffet area. At the heart of the room, planks were arranged in a striking chevron pattern to form a unique seven-sided heptagonal design. This captivating focal point was further enhanced by a border of horizontally laid planks, creating a seamless and visually engaging transition.
Greg Brough, Managing Director of JackEvie, commented:
“Flooring is the cornerstone of all interior design projects because it significantly influences the overall look, feel, and functionality of a space.
“As one of the most heavily used elements in commercial spaces, flooring must not only withstand wear and tear but also act as a canvas for the broader design. The team at Harrison has done a fantastic job, with a thoughtful approach that defines the flow between areas in open spaces.
“We are incredibly proud to have worked on such a prestigious project and are delighted with the finished result. It’s a testament to the collaboration and attention to detail that went into creating a truly remarkable space from all parties involved.”
